Rye-NY The Atlantic Cruising Club (“ACC”) announces a new addition to its series of comprehensive, boater-biased marina guides – Atlantic Cruising Club’s Guide to Mid-Atlantic/ICW Marinas – Hampton, VA to St. Mary’s GA (Including the James, Neuse & Pamlico Rivers, Virginia Inlets, Outer Banks and North Carolina Sounds).
With this latest addition, ACC’s Guides to Marinas — dubbed “the bible for cruisers” by a leading cruising publication -- now provide thoroughly researched Marina Reports for over 1,500 marinas on both the East Coast from Maine to Florida and the West Coast fBritish Columbia to Oregon.
The new ACC’s Guide to Mid-Atlantic/ICW Marinas offers hundreds of items of information for every facility within the region that accepts overnight transient boats with LOA’s of 25 feet or greater. Each of the 218 Marina R eports includes: contact information, lat/long, moorage/dockage rates, navigation details, reported depths, fuel availability, internet access, power options, bathhouse and laundry facilities, megayacht support, pump-out availability, key management names, restaurants, accommodations, provisioning resources, general services, transportation (both local and long distance), medical services, attractions –-such as museums, theaters and video rentals, and recreation opportunities – including the nearest pool, beach and golf course – and much more. In each full-page Report, this information is combined with a “bottom-line” marina rating, a three-paragraph marina review and 17 to 25 full-color photos.
Every marina included in the Guide has been personally visited by an ACC Writer/Reviewer/Photographer -- uusually more than once. This approach not only ensures accuracy, but also imbues each Marina Report with a personal perspective on what is unique to that facility and/or its environs. To insure objectivity, advertising from marinas is not accepted and there is no charge to marinas for inclusion in the Guide.
Bound into the ACC’s Guide to Mid-Atlantic/ICW Marinas is a DVD-ROM from which readers can install ACC’s Digital Guide on their Windows-based PC or laptop. The digital version contains all of the Marina Reports plus over 5,000 photos - all accessible through both search screen and interactive map interfaces. For example, need a marina in Oriental that is rated at least three bells, has at least 7 feet of reported depth, and offers diesel fuel, pump-out, a pool and an eatery on-site and dockage fees under $1.50/foot? Just set the criteria in the search screen and click “Find Marinas.”
Both the print and digital versions of the Guide have been designed with easy navigation in mind. In the print version, Marina Reports are ordered from north to south (mouth to the source) in approximately the same order that boaters might encounter each on a cruise through the region. A regional overview map and twenty sub-region maps show the location of each marina. In the digital version, these maps are interactive – just click a marina “button” to display the Marina Report. As noted above, the digital guide also offers a tabbed,
flexible search screen with over 100 searchable fields, as well as more than 5,000 photographs (up to 25 per marina) that can be viewed individually, as a group or in a slide show.
ACC’s Guide to Mid-Atlantic/ICW Marinas’ addendum includes an extensive overview of the regional Clean Marina and Clean Vessel Programs, a list of pump-out facilities and Certified Clean Marinas, and an index that lists all the covered cities/towns, harbors, rivers, bays, and marinas.
Every ACC Guide, including the new Mid-Atlantic/ICW volume, entitles the owner to a complimentary Silver Membership in the Atlantic Cruising Club. One of the benefits is complete access to all of the features of www.AtlanticCruisingClub.com. Particularly notable is the Cruisers’ Comments section, which encourages boaters to post their own ratings and/or share their experiences at any of the marinas covered in the Guides.
