Setting — Snugly situated on the eastern shore of Back Creek Basin - right off the C&D Canal - Chesapeake Inn's 2-story gray contemporary building with hunter green trim hosts two quite different dining options and backs an extensive network of well maintained floating docks. The charming, historic "downtown" of South Chesapeake City is a very short stroll away, with more eateries, boutiques, antique shops, B&B's and lots of small-town Americana.

Marina Notes — Built in 1996 on the site of Dockside Yacht Club, family owned & operated. Popular destination for day trips as well as for multi-day transients. Five sets of docks run all along the waterfront - the more northerly ones ("E" and "D" docks) host smaller boats, but have the most privacy. "C" dock is just north of the restaurant terrace. On "A" dock (right off the dining deck) and B dock (outboard of the Tiki Bar), your boat is the view. Water taxi to the anchorage - to come in for dinner, just hail them. Two large, tiled, individual bathrooms (a sink, toilet, and 2 showers) are great for a couple or family.

Notable — The casual dining deck (sandwiches, baskets and great brick-oven pizza) features live bands nightly from May to October. This is clearly where the action is. A magnet for Formula Ones and other high-speed boats, so if "go-fast" intrigues, it can be found here. On the 2nd level, the formal Dining Room serves an upscale menu in elegant surroundings with expansive views, piano music Fri and Sat nights, and a dining terrace. A half-mile north is the "must-see" Canal Museum, housed in the original pump house - the waterwheel and steam pumping engines are the oldest in the U.S. that are still intact. Interactive displays tell the canal's history and live TVs track ships as they transit the Canal. A picnic area overlooks Back Creek.
