Setting — Just under the State Road 60 Bridge and south of Fritz Island, the two piers for Vero's Tackle and Marina and the Riverside Cafe point westward into the ICW toward the mangroves across the river. The view of the sunset from the dockside restaurant is so spectacular that the management rings a bell daily, encouraging diners and staff alike to stop and take notice as the sun slips below Florida's flat mainland one more time. The adjacent picture-perfect yellow tackle shop with its white picket fence is home base for Vero's fishing guides. The upscale community of Vero Beach flanks both sides of the river.

Marina Notes — Most of the slips here are used by charter fishing guides and pontoon rentals, but transient dockage is sometimes available. (Note: management will rent to transients but "does not cater to them.") The on-site Team Vero fishing guides, with expertise in nearby freshwater lakes, the Indian River, and offshore, are so popular they recommend booking six months ahead. The nearest boatyard is in Ft. Pierce. There are two heads in the office (no showers) and three more in the adjacent restaurant. (H) The docks, wiped out by Frances, were completely re-built by December 2004.

Notable — The tackle shop is well-stocked with live bait, ice, and equipment for your fishing needs. Riverside Park, just beyond the parking lot, offers picnicking, roller blade and bike trails, a tennis complex and the Vero Beach Museum of Art and live, professional Riverside Theater. The adjacent Riverside Cafe has indoor and al fresco dining, with live entertainment on weekends and brunch every Sunday. With notice, the chef will prepare a meal from the fish caught on your charter. The city's beautifully maintained public fishing pier winds around the supports under the bridge.
